Twin storms to bring rains, strong winds over northern Luzon: PAGASA 1

MANILA - Twin storms will bring rains and strong winds over northern Luzon on Wednesday, the state weather bureau said.

Sarah has intensified into a tropical storm while Ramon further weakened into a tropical depression following its landfall over Santa Ana, Cagayan early Wednesday, PAGASA said.

As of 10 a.m., Sarah was last estimated 715 kilometers east northeast of Infanta, Quezon, packing maximum winds of 65 km per hour near the center and gusts of up to 80 kph.

It is forecast to take Ramon's track and hit northern Luzon, weather specialist Raymond Ordinario said.

Ramon, meanwhile, was spotted in the vicinity of Roxas, Isabela with 55 kph maximum winds and 90 kph gusts.

It is expected to weaken into a low pressure area and leave the Philippine area of responsibility within 24 hours if it continues to move south-southwest at 20 kph.

Tropical cyclone wind signal no.1 remains hoisted over the following areas
