MANILA- The viral video of what appeared to be an attempt to steal from a jeepney passenger in Manila was only a personal scuffle, Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso clarified on Monday.
In the video, a man can be seen hanging from the side of a moving jeepney along Taft Avenue as he attacked a passenger.
Moreno on Monday invited the men in the video to his office to explain the incident, which some people viewed as a robbery attempt.
A certain Edison said he and his friend Jomar were chasing a man inside the jeepney after he supposedly groped his wife. The suspect, Edison claimed, threw the first punch.
(He groped my wife 3 times.)
(He punched me first. He ran away and rode a jeep.)
Police confirmed that the incident was only a personal scuffle and not a crime incident.
(It's clear that there was no stealing, snatching or holdapping. This is only a personal scuffle.)
