MANILA -- (UPDATED) The 83-year-old father-in-law of Senator Grace Poe was rushed to the hospital after his vehicle fell from the third level of a parking building in Greenhills, San Juan City, police said Sunday.
Some security personnel and parking attendants said the black Innova accelerated towards the edge of the parking space, bumped into the barrier, until it fell to the ground floor at around 9:45 a.m.
Senior Supt. Dindo Reyes of San Juan City police confirmed that the person in the vehicle was Senator Poe's father-in-law, Teodoro Paraiso Llamanzares.
He is "currently in stable condition and will continue to be under medical care," the management of Promenade mall said in a statement.
No one else was hurt in the incident, the police added.
Poe said her father-in-law "only has a few fractured ribs and bruises" because he was wearing a seatbelt, adding that they "expect a speedy recovery."
"We want to thank everyone for their prayers and concern. We’re just thankful he was kept safe and no one else was injured," she added.
Authorities have yet to establish what led to the vehicle falling from the third level of the parking building of Promenade mall. --report from Arra Perez, ABS-CBN News
