MANILA- Police apprehended 2 more vehicles carrying expired number "8" license plates, which are reserved for lawmakers, in Pasig City Friday.
Barangay officials had complained about the apprehended vehicles for allegedly using the sidewalks as parking areas, police said.
One of the vehicles also carried the seal of the Office of the President and has blinkers and sirens installed.
Police said they are already coordinating with the owners of the vehicles for penalties. The protocol "8" plates will also be confiscated.
Earlier this week, the House of Representatives ordered its members to return "8" car plates issued during the 16th Congress, after a businessman-singer with a similar plate was involved in a viral road rage incident.
Police on Thursday vowed to help the House in searching for vehicles illegally using the commemorative plates.
