MANILA- The Messma card or "black box" of the Metro Rail Transit-3 (MRT) coach that was detached from the train Thursday morning is missing, a transport official said.

Department of Transportation Undersecretary for Railways Cesar Chavez said the card, which functions like an airplane's black box that records all applied interventions on the train, is missing.

The card, a train data recorder, is considered critical in determining the cause of the incident.

Around 130 to 140 passengers were left stranded and forced to walk on the railway Thursday morning after a coach was detached from the rest of the train between the Ayala and Buendia Stations.

Puzzled transport officials said they are still investigating the cause of the incident.

Michael Capati, director for operations of the MRT, also revealed that they are looking into the possibility that there was "human intervention" in the incident.

"We are actually still investigating kung ano ang nag-cause ng detachment," he told reporters.
