Duterte visits soldiers wounded in Eastern Samar clash

MANILA - President Rodrigo Duterte honored on Friday state troops wounded in a clash against New People's Army rebels in Eastern Samar earlier this week.

Duterte visited 7 wounded soldiers and a police officer in a hospital in Tacloban City, Leyte past 7 p.m. Friday.

During the visit, the President awarded the following officers with the Order of Lapu-Lapu (Rank of Kampilan):

1. Sgt. Kenneth John Arcina

2. Cpl. Linlito Donayre

3. Private 1st Class Albert Abegonia

4. Private Darwin Aborquez

5. Private Joshua Pacuan

6. Cpl. Aljon Aguilos

7. Private 1st Class Rex Batis Jr.

8. Patrolman Jomar Aballe

The Order of Lapu-Lapu with Kampilan Rank medal is awarded to individuals who were seriously wounded, injured or suffered a great loss of property as a direct result of their participation in an activity related to a campaign or advocacy of the President.

Duterte had postponed his supposed meeting with farmers in Cotabato City also set Friday to visit the soldiers.
