MANILA - A man was arrested on Thursday for renting and stealing vehicles to sell or loan to unsuspecting buyers.
Ronalfo Punzalan was served his arrest warrant for estafa and carnapping in Makati City.
Kawawa naman yung nagpa-rent lang,” he added.
Punzalan’s victims relayed the similar ways he fooled them. He would rent vehicles and first pay in the form of checks but they would all bounce later on.
“Month of May, P45,000 monthly, and then first 3 months, nakapagbayad siya ng maayos, pero yung month ng July, pahirapan na, hindi na siya masingil, pahirapan na siya,” victim Carlo Templora said.
Another victim Wenceslao Remigio recalled that he tried to retrieve his vehicle from Punzalan but was unable to do so.
Roberto Salazar Jr., on the other hand, said he wanted to get back his vehicle but it was already sold by Punzalan.
“P45,000 a month [ang bayad].
Maribem Buntang said that in her case, a vehicle was loaned to her.
Noong nalaman naming may alarm, tinurn-over namin,” Buntang said.
The HPG said a vehicle will be considered a hot car if the LTO and HPG are alerted that it is missing.
Fajardo reminded the public to be wary of car resellers who sell vehicles at a very low price.
Unfortunately, itinakbo na, naibenta at pinagkakitaan na,” he said.
