MANILA - President Rodrigo Duterte will postpone his Nov. 15 meeting with farmers in the southern province of Cotabato to pay respects to soldiers wounded and killed in a recent clash with rebels in Eastern Samar, Sen. Christopher "Bong" Go said Thursday.

Go, the President's former special assistant, did not provide additional details.

Homemade bombs killed 6 soldiers and wounded 20 of their comrades as they fought some 50 suspected members of the New People's Army in Borongan City, Eastern Samar last Monday, the military said.

Meanwhile, the Cotabato farmers sought an audience with Duterte due to a donation of faulty tractors, Go earlier said.

There were no immediate details on when Duterte would meet the farmers, said Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo.

Duterte, 74, is in his hometown Davao to work from home and rest due to exhaustion and lack of sleep, Malacañang earlier said.

The President on Wednesday worked on several important documents, said Panelo.
