MANILA - Senators cheered on their respective alma maters University of the Philippines (UP) and University of Santo Tomas (UST) amid the do-or-die UAAP basketball game between the two schools on Wednesday.

Sen. Joel Villanueva, a UST alumnus and former Growling Tiger, posted a Facebook photo of himself surrounded with fellow senators who graduated from UP.

The senator, who was part of the UST team that won 2 UAAP championships in 1994 and 1995, was seen attending the game, cheering on for the Tigers.

Blue Ribbon Committee chairman Sen. Richard Gordon, of UP College of Law Batch 1975, tweeted a photo of himself with fellow UP alumni Senators Nancy Binay (Batch 1997) and Migs Zubiri (Batch 1990). Sen. Imee Marcos, who was enrolled in UP but her degree in question, was also in the photo.

UST took down UP with a 68-65 victory, moving on to the UAAP Season 82 men's basketball finals.

The España-based Growling Tigers will take on Katipunan's unbeaten Ateneo de Manila University in a best-of-3 series, looking to deny the Blue Eagles a third straight crown.
