ILOILO CITY -- A seaman allegedly shot a suspected 17-year-old gang member during a rumble in Mandurriao, Iloilo City on Sunday.

Vincent Albert Tan was allegedly shot in the head by seaman Jonathan Lozada who attempted to pacify Tan and other gang members.

According to Lozada, he drove his nephew Robert to the bank to withdraw money when he saw the gang members fighting.

He then decided to accost the gang members when an unidentified man allegedly tried to shoot Lozada but missed.

Lozada fired back and then drove away in a pick-up truck with his nephew. He later discovered that Robert had been shot at the shoulder and chest by one of the gang members when he rode back in the car.

Authorities recovered four empty shells from the crime scene while the .45 caliber pistol of Lozada was confiscated.

His pick-up truck was later found by the police after seeing the vehicle parked in the Iloilo Doctors Hospital in Mandurriao where Robert and Tan were brought.

Lozada is currently under the custody of Mandurriao police and will be facing charges for allegedly shooting Tan.

Police are still investigating the cause of the commotion.
