MANILA - Authorities tightened anew the security around the University of Santo Tomas as thousands of aspiring lawyers and their supporters flocked there for the second day of the Bar examinations.
Some 400 policemen and security personnel from other agencies were posted around the campus. Aside from maintaining the security there, the officers will impose a liquor ban in the area until 8 p.m., said the Manila Police District.
The MPD reminded motorists that a stop-and-go scheme is being implemented around UST, and that parking is prohibited along P. Noval and Dapitan streets, and España Boulevard.
Around 8,000 examinees will be tested on their mastery of civil law and taxation on the Bar exam's second day.
Waving placards and balloons, hundreds of their supporters gathered at the UST main gate to give messages of encouragement.
Last year, 6,748 individuals took the bar exams, considered the toughest professional licensure examination in the country. Some 1,724 passed the test.
