MANILA - President Rodrigo Duterte on Friday met with Russian President Vladimir Putin as Manila and Moscow continued to enhance relations.
The two leaders met on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in Da Nang, Vietnam. Details on the meeting have yet to be released.
Duterte was in Russia for an official visit last May but had to cut short his trip after Islamic State-inspired terrorists laid siege on Marawi City.
The President had a brief meeting with Putin that time after the Russian leader quickly adjusted his schedule.
Under Duterte, Russia has given the Philippines military assistance despite Manila's long-standing ties with Moscow's rival Washington.
