Police recovered sachets of suspected shabu and assorted drug paraphernalia from the suspect's house.

MISAMIS ORIENTAL - A lawyer known for handling drug-related cases was arrested in an anti-drug operation in Balingasag town Thursday morning.

The ancestral house of the family of Atty. Michael Roa was the subject of a search warrant by operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region X.

Authorities recovered nine sachets of suspected shabu in Roa's room. Also arrested were Roa's nephew, John Rey Roa, and his live-in partner Justine Kate Fontavilla, after assorted drug paraphernalia and residue of suspected shabu were found inside their room.

Another four sachets of shabu were recovered from the room of Roa's brother, Porferio Roa, Jr.

According to PDEA Region X Director Adrian Alvarino, the lawyer and his brother has long been included in their drug watchlist.

"Itong si Atty. Roa at kanyang mga kapatid ay matagal na sa ating watchlist. At si Atty. Michael ay isa sa ating mga high value target," he said.

His father, Porferio Roa Sr., was a former mayor of Balingasag and her sister Marrietta Roa-Abogado is the incumbent mayor.

Roa, however, said he has no knowledge of the illegal drugs found in their ancestral home.

Suspected shabu recovered from the house has an estimated value of more than P200,000.
