Phivolcs
MANILA—A 4.9-magnitude earthquake struck off Davao Occidental province early Saturday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The tectonic tremor occurred at 3:57 a.m. some 225 kilometers southeast of Sarangani town. It had a depth of 70 kilometers.
Instrumental intensity 2 was recorded in Malungon town in Sarangani province.
Phivolcs said the quake will not cause damage or generate aftershocks.
Last month, Mindanao was rattled by a string of strong earthquakes that left at least 23 people dead and hundreds injured.
