MANILA - Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) officer-in-charge Eliseo Rio on Thursday said he has yet to receive notice that he would soon be replaced by Senator Gringo Honasan as the agency's chief.
This after Senate President Vicente Sotto III confirmed on Wednesday that Honasan would soon be named as the new DICT head, with his appointment papers expected to be released next week.
"Wala pang impormasyon na binibigay sa'kin na ako ay papalitan na," Rio said in an interview on DZMM.
(I have not yet received any information that I will be replaced.)
Rio said he was ready to follow the order of President Rodrigo Duterte and serve in whatever capacity in government.
"I serve at the pleasure of the President. Kung ano ang gusto ng Presidente (What the President wants), I will fully support it," he said.
"Sundalo ako. Kung ano man iutos sa'kin, susunod ako basta makakatulong sa bayan," said Rio, a former military official.
(I am a soldier. I will follow the command given to me as long as it will help the country.)
"In fact nagpapasalamat na nga ako kay Presidente na ginawa akong acting [secretary]. Malaking bagay na iyan para sa akin," he said.
(In fact, I am already thankful to the President that he made me acting secretary. That alone is already a big deal for me.)
Duterte appointed Rio to the post in May 2018. He had served as National Telecommunications Commission during the time for former President and now House Speaker Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.
