Ilocos Norte — A 36-year-old ex-convict was shot dead in Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte on Tuesday.

Roger Yaba succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds in different parts of his body.

Investigation revealed that the victim had a drinking spree with a neighbor, which allegedly led to a misunderstanding.

“Nagresponde kami at inimbitahan namin sila dito sa station, nagkaayos naman sila kaya pinaalis na namin.” said Senior Insp. Arnel Tabaog, chief of PNP-Pasuquin.

(We responded to a call and we invited them over to the station. They were able to make amends, so we sent them home.)

Come morning, the lifeless body of Roger Yaba was found on a national highway in Barangay Pragata, Pasuquin.

A witness claimed to have heard gunshots between 11:30 p.m. and 12:00 a.m.

“Nakarinig ako ng sunod-sunod na putok ng baril pero hindi ko ito tiningnan dahil sa takot ko,” the witness said.

(I heard multiple gunshots but I did not look because I was scared.)

Thirteen empty assault rifle bullet shells were found at the crime scene.

The victim was a former bodyguard of a politician in Piddig and recently worked for Pasuquin’s ex-mayor.
