MANILA — The local government of Pasay is reminding residents that they would face penalties should they go half-naked in public.
A city ordinance approved in June bans everyone above the age of 18 from going shirtless outside their home to promote "decency and high moral outlook," said Pasay Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano.
Violators risk a P2,000 fine or 12 hours of community service in the first offense, which can grow to a P4,000 fine and/or 24-hour community service in the third offense, the Pasay government said in a Facebook post.
The city government ordered the Pasay police station to keep track of violators.
