The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Tuesday recovered 16 more unrigged pipe bombs after arresting a suspected member of the Abu Sayyaf Group in an operation in Indanan, Sulu.
The operation was launched following the death of three suspected suicide bombers in Barangay Kan Islam, also in Indanan.
The suspected ASG member, identified only as "Mang," confessed the location of a locally assembled improvised explosive device (IED) in a safe house in Barangay Paligue in Indanan.
It let to the discovery of the 16 pipe bombs by members of the 41st Infantry Battalion.
The pipe bombs were completely identical to the ones recovered from the killed suicide bombers.
Major General Corleto Vinluan Jr., commander of the Joint Task Force Sulu, thanked members of the Tausug community who provided information that let to the suspect's arrest and discovery of the bombs.
