PANABO CITY - A barangay chairwoman who was arrested for allegedly being among those behind the abduction of foreigners in Samal will be presented in a local court in Panabo City.

Talipao police from Sulu province, headed by Chief Inspector Norlito Mata, coordinated with Panabo City police, through Supt. Julius Borja, for temporary detention of suspect Fauzia Abdulla pending the court's commitment order.

"Nag-coordinate sila sa atin kasi gabi na. Dumerecho sila dito. Para pansamantalang ilagay ang suspek," Borja said.

(They coordinated with us since it's already late. They went straight here to temporarily detain the suspect.)

Abdulla was arrested in Indanan town in Sulu Saturday morning.

Court records show that Abdulla is one of the 62 respondents for kidnapping with homicide case in connection with the abduction of two Canadians John Ridsdel and Robert Hall, Norwegian Kjartan Sekkingstad and Filipina Marites Flor in a Samal resort last year.

Alleged members of Abu Sayyaf Group later beheaded victims Ridsdel and Hall.

"Tinanggap niya pero presumed innocent po sya, malinis daw siya, so sumama naman siya sa police station," Mata said.

(She is presumed innocent. She claims that she has nothign to do with it, so she came to the police station.)

Abdulla declined to be interviewed.
