MANILA - Malacañang cheered the thousands of aspiring lawyers taking the Bar examinations on Sunday, reminding them to give the test their best shot.

In a statement, Presidential Spokesperson and Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo also said the Bar exams will be a test of their calmness and courage under pressure.

"All these are, however, only requisites to the practice of law as the real challenge is upholding the integrity and dignity of the profession, amid all fascinations of the legal world, after you've taken your oaths and signed the rolls," he added.

A total of 8,701 individuals are expected to take the Bar exams on all Sundays of November, the highest number of takers in recent years, the Supreme Court earlier said.

This is also way higher than the 6,748 individuals who took the Bar exams last year. This year's Bar Examinations Committee is headed by Associate Justice Mariano del Castillo.
