MANILA—Police have enhanced security at University of Santo Tomas, a day before the bar exams on Sunday.

The campus has been cordoned off to stop the public from entering university premises during the exams.

A bomb squad vehicle has been stationed outside UST's main building, with about 30 police officers manning the main gate.

As of 7 p.m., Saturday, people were not allowed to enter the campus unless they were attending mass at the parish.

Motorists have been advised to take alternate routes as vehicular traffic is expected to be heavy in the area Sunday. Police will implement a “stop-and-go” traffic scheme near UST during the exams.

The Manila Police District said about 8,200 aspiring lawyers are set to take this year’s bar exams.

Police will deploy about 600 police personnel in the vicinity.

The Supreme Court requested the city government of Manila to help enforce tighter security and a liquor ban, and deploy ambulances and first responders near UST.
