MANILA - Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade inspected various transportation hubs on the eve of All Souls Day.

He started his commute on board the P2P bus ride from Alabang Town Center in Muntinlupa to Greenbelt Mall area in Makati. Other transportation officials joined the ride. He suggested to have a screening mechanism installed at the bus entrances.

After the bus ride, he booked a TNVS ride at Greenbelt 1 to Ayala MRT-3.

Tugade next went to MRT-3 Ayala Station to take a northbound train.

He went down to check the Land Transportation Office Driver’s License Renewal Center also at MRT-3 Ayala Station.

Tugade rode the MRT-3 North Avenue Station to Taft to meet MRT-3 officials. According to the Communications Group, Tugade instructed MRT-3 management to remove eyesores in the stations, such as unused stalls and stores.

He then proceeded to ride the MRT-3 from Ayala Station to North Avenue. He noticed that there are 4 non-operational escalators at the Ayala Station. Transportation Usec. for Railways TJ Batan assured him that they will be fixed by December.

Upon arrival at the MRT-3 Taft Station, Tugade went to inspect the rail welding area.

This is part of the rail replacement component of the MRT-3 Rehabilitation Project being done by Sumitomo-Mitsubishi Heavy of Japan.

Before riding the LRT Line 1 train, Tugade experienced for himself the difficult climb on a steep flight of stairs in the train station.

The stairway was constructed without taking into consideration the elderly, pregnant women, and persons with disabilities.
