MANILA - A total of 10 bus drivers and 2 conductors tested positive for illegal drug use, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency said Wednesday after inspecting terminals nationwide ahead of Undas.
PDEA said the licenses of these drivers have been confiscated. The drivers will also have to undergo rehabilitation before they can get their licenses back.
The anti-narcotics agency screened a total of 848 drivers and 7 conductors in major bus terminals in the country amid the influx of passengers traveling for All Saints' and All Souls' Day.
"This is our way of extending our concern to the Filipino people as a government entity, while ensuring a safe and harmless travel," said PDEA Director General Aaron Aquino.
PDEA also worked with the Land Transportation Office and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board in the surprise drug test under "Oplan Undaspot."
