MANILA - Malacañang on Wednesday suspended work in government offices from 3 p.m. to give employees “full opportunity to observe All Saints Day on Nov. 1."
Memorandum Circular No. 51, signed by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, said the work suspension will allow government workers to travel to and from the different regions ahead of All Saints Day.
“However, those agencies whose functions involve the delivery of basic and health services, preparedness/response to disasters and calamities, and/or the performance of other vital services shall continue with their operations and render the necessary services,” the memorandum reads.
The suspension of classes in private schools and work in private companies and offices is left to the discretion of their respective heads and employers.
Nov. 1 (All Saints Day) and Nov. 2 (All Souls Day) are special non-working holidays.
