MANILA - Immigration officers arrested an African passenger who tried to leave the country using a fake Canadian visa, authorities said Tuesday.
The Bureau of Immigration said 36-year-old Abdul Wahab Issah, who hails from Ghana, was apprehended at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2 last October 21.
BI Port Operations Division chief Grifton Medina said Issa was trying to board a PAL flight to Toronto using a fake visa he admittedly bought for $6,000 from a syndicate in Ghana.
Medina said the foreigner is currently detained at the BI detention facility while undergoing deportation proceedings. He said the bureau continues to be vigilant in the coming holidays.
