MANILA - A rookie policeman from Sampaloc, Manila has been detained over the alleged rape of a drug suspect's 15-year-old daughter, the Philippine National Police said Wednesday.
The girl, in a statement, said she was forced to give herself to the policeman to clear her father from drug allegations last October 26.
The teen's mother said she saw the officer instructing her daughter to buy liquor before bringing the teenager to a motel in the Sta. Mesa district.
The officer has been charged with rape and is now detained, said PNP chief Director General Oscar Albayalde.
The newbie policeman is also facing a separate administrative case that may lead to his dismissal from office even if the criminal case against him does not flourish, Albayalde told reporters.
The victim tested positive for genital lacerations, Metro Manila police chief Director Guillermo Eleazar earlier revealed.
The newbie policeman has denied the accusation, claiming the girl's parents want to discredit him.
The teenager has been placed in the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
