MANILA- Former Customs Commission Isidro Lapeña skipped the Senate probe on the P11-billion "shabu" shipment allegedly hidden inside magnetic lifters that were found empty in Cavite in August.
Tuesday's legislative inquiry is the first since President Rodrigo Duterte reassigned Lapeña to the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) last week.
The President earlier said Lapeña's reassignment was a "promotion."
Aside from Lapeña, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Director General Aaron Aquino also skipped the hearing and was represented instead by lawyer Ruel Lasala.
Other people who skipped Tuesday's hearing were Marina Dela Cruz Signapan, the alleged consignee of the magnetic lifters, and Police Senior Supt. Eduardo Acierto who was earlier tagged by the President in his drug matrix.
Acierto was reportedly advised by his lawyer to attend the Senate probe but cannot be contacted as of Tuesday.
