MANILA - Two fighters of the Abu Sayyaf group were killed and two others wounded in an encounter with government troops in Panglima Estino town, Sulu, early Tuesday.
In a statement, the Western Mindanao Command (Wesmincom) said a firefight erupted between some 100 bandits and the 61st, 62nd, and 64th Marine companies at around 5:08 a.m.
The wounded bandits were taken to Kuta Heneral Teodulfo Bautista Station Hospital for medical attention, Wesmincom said.
Authorities also recovered an M653 and an M14 rifle.
