MANILA - All police regional offices are on full alert for the observance of All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day, the head of the Philippine National Police said Monday.
PNP chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa said he has required full attendance of all personnel in the regions.
"We have declared full alert status sa lahat ng regions. May checkpoints, nagdu-duty lahat," he told reporters at Camp Crame.
Offices at the PNP national headquarters in Quezon City, meanwhile, are on heightened alert, Dela Rosa added.
"Tayong dito, 50 percent dapat nasa NHQ ready to be deployed anytime, 24/7 tayong pulis," he said.
Dela Rosa said he also instructed regional directors to guard banks and pawnshops against theft and robbery.
He also reminded financial establishments to tighten security measures against termite gangs that dig their way into the place they plan to loot.
The country's top cop also told his men to secure their houses and families. "Wag iwanan ang bahay. Nakakahiya na pulis, tapos naransack ang bahay," he said.
