MANILA - Ride-hailing service Grab Philippines is offering P100,000 for any information leading to the killer of one of its partner-drivers last week.
Grab Philippines spokesperson Leo Gonzales said anyone who has leads on the killer of Gerardo Amolato Maquidato Jr. may reach them through 09176178731.
"We just put out a reward for any information leading to the capture of the perpetrators, P100,000 initially," he told DZMM on Monday.
Maquidato died after being shot then pushed out of his car by the killer who initially posed as a passenger. He was driving a silver Toyota Innova with plate number YV 7109 when he was killed.
The murdered Grab driver is described as a "good Samaritan" for bringing an ill passenger to the hospital charge-free last year.
Gonzales said they have already looked into the last bookings of Maquidato as they zero in on the identity of the culprit. All information, he said, has been passed on to the authorities.
"I cannot clearly say kung 'yung huling pasahero [ang nakapatay] because there were a number of booking cancellations after," Gonzales said.
He added that there have been 4 to 6 incidents this year when Grab's partner-drivers were robbed. He said all these cases are still being investigated.
Gonzales said they are making "technological changes" in their system to ensure the safety of their partner-drivers but refused to divulge the details on this.
