The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology recorded at least 22 aftershocks in General Santos City following the Magnitude 6.6 earthquake that shook parts of Mindanao Tuesday.
At least one aftershock was felt at Intensity 3, Phivolcs said.
Residents left their homes, patients were evacuated from hospitals and classes suspended in all levels in the city Tuesday as local officials checked on vital infrastructure.
Phivolcs Director Renato Solidum earlier warned of more aftershocks after Tuesday's quake but discounted the possibility that the temblor would cause a tsunami. "Inland o nasa kalupaan ang lindol," he said in a press briefing.
