MANILA - Severe tropical storm "Quedan" may exit the Philippine area of responsibility on Saturday, state weather bureau PAGASA said.
In its 11 a.m. weather bulletin, PAGASA said Quedan continues to move north northwest at a speed of 19 kph.
As of 10 a.m. Friday, the storm's center was spotted 795 kms east of Basco, Batanes.
Quedan has maximum sustained winds of 90 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 115 kph. No tropical cyclone warning signals have been raised.
PAGASA said moderate to heavy rainfall is expected within the 750-km diameter of the tropical storm.
The weather bureau also warned that sea travel is risky over the seaboards of Northern Luzon, the eastern seaboard of Central and Southern Luzon, and the eastern seaboard of Visayas.
