MANILA - Most of the 23 Filipinos involved in a bus accident in Mount Sinai, Egypt are expected to return to the country in the "next few days" after receiving treatment, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Saturday.
A Filipino-American woman's American husband was killed in the incident, according to DFA Assistant Secretary Eduardo Meñez, while 13 Filipinos were earlier reported injured.
Most of the Filipinos have been discharged from the hospital after suffering bruises and some broken bones, he added. Among them was Fr. Marvin Mejia, secretary-general of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP).
The Philippine Embassy and the Filipino community in Egypt have extended aid to the group, which was touring Egypt when their bus met an accident Tuesday night following a visit to Saint Catherine's Monastery on Mount Sinai.
