MANILA - The Anti-Trafficking in Persons Division (ATIPD) of the Philippine National Police's Women and Children Protection Center has (PNP-WCPC) arrested a 58-year-old American yoga instructor upon landing in Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) last October 16.
The suspect, Robin Hoyt Alderman, came to the Philippines to allegedly meet with a pimp who offered him a minor for sex.
A follow-up operation was immediately conducted by authorities last October 20 wherein a 14-year-old girl was rescued.
The information came from a social media provider who told U.S. authorities regarding online sexual exploitation of children.
The U.S, Homeland Security referred the case and coordinated with Philippine authorities.
With the help of International Justice Mission, the world’s largest anti-slavery organization, PNP-WCPC operatives arrested Alderman upon his arrival at NAIA.
According to PNP-WCPC officer-in-charge of the operations Ma. Shiela Portento, the suspect planned to meet with a minor based on the communication gathered by authorities.
“Doon sa mga chat logs nila, naka-indicate doon kung ano ang gagawin niya and all the exploitation na gagawin niya,” Portento said.
“He will rent an old apartment. He will buy an old dilapidated van purposely daw to abduct other victims and then he will also buy a motorcycle to assist sa pag-abduct. And then, he did mention na he won’t be paying for the sex. But just the same, ni-lure niya ang mga victims that he is willing to pay,“ Portento added.
Superintendent Villamor Tuliao, chief of the Anti Trafficking Division of PNP WCPC said they recovered sexual paraphernalia from Alderman.
“We believe bukod sa sexual perversion niya, gumagawa din siya ng mga videos, binebenta niya sa mga networks niya of pedophiles.”
Alderman faces charges of violating the Expanded Anti Human Trafficking Law.
