'Quedan' intensifies but 'less likely to make landfall': PAGASA

MANILA - Tropical storm Quedan has intensified but no storm signal has been raised as it is "less likely to make landfall," state weather bureau PAGASA said Thursday morning.

Now a severe tropical storm, Quedan was last spotted 1,155 kms east of Aparri, Cagayan packing maximum sustained winds of 90 kph with gusts of 115 kph, PAGASA said in its 11 a.m. briefing.

It is expected to move east of Batanes by Friday and hover over the boundary of the Philippine area of responsibility by Saturday.

Meanwhile, light to moderate rains are expected in Puerto Princesa and parts of Mindanao as an intertropical convergence zone was spotted west of Palawan.
