MANILA - The police force in Cebu will treat a travel advisory from the United Kingdom in a "positive manner" as it prepares for "any terrorist threat," an official said Wednesday.
Central Visayas Regional Intelligence Division head, Senior Supt. Jonathan Cabal said they were not able to monitor any such threat, but vowed to remain vigilant.
"We've been very vigilant and enhanced naman yung ating security preparations with response to any terrorist threat," he told reporters.
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) of the UK on Tuesday advised against "all but essential" travel to parts of Mindanao and to the south of Cebu province, including the municipalities of Dalaguete and Badian, due to the "threat of terrorism."
"As the guidance of our regional director, we don't treat this as something na babalewalain, but we should look (at) it in a positive manner that we still conduct our usual business," he said.
The UK government had also advised against all travel to western and central Mindanao and the Sulu archipelago because of terrorist activity and clashes between the military and insurgent groups.
