MANILA (UPDATE) — A fire broke out Thursday at a Muslim community in Station 3, Boracay, the holiday island's most densely populated area, prompting authorities to raise the highest fire alarm.
Fire Marshall Supt. Nazrudin Cablayan of the Malay Fire Station said the blaze is now under control at 10:33 a.m., about 2 hours after it first erupted in Sitio Ambulong, Barangay Manoc-Manoc.
The area is far from the main road, making it hard for firefighters to put out the blaze.
Firefighters and volunteers from nearby areas responded after the general alarm was raised.
