MANILA - Senator Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III on Wednesday burst into tears while thanking his colleagues and Senate staff for the necrological service they gave his father, late Senate President Aquilino “Nene” Pimentel Jr.
The younger Pimentel apologized for his emotional breakdown, telling lawmakers and former national leaders that it has been a “sad day” for the family.
“Thank you for helping Tatay achieve his vision and goals as a legislator,” he said.
“Working on these landmark laws fulfilled him, made him happy. Thank you for helping him realize his dreams of a fairer, more productive Philippines,” he said.
Pimentel Jr. succumbed to lymphoma over the weekend. He was 85.
