MANILA - President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday visited the wake of a policeman who was killed in an ambush in Camarines Sur last October 18.

Duterte conferred the Order of Lapu Lapu on PO1 Ralph Jayson Vida, at the cop’s wake in Naga City Tuesday.

Vida was one of three cops slain when gunmen fired at the convoy of Food and Drug Administration director Nela Charade Puno in Lupi, Camarines Sur.

The other fatalities were Senior Police Officer 1 Percival Rafael and PO3 Carlito Navarroza. Three others were injured in the ambush.

Pun’s convoy was waylaid in Barangay Napolindan past 9 a.m. Thursday last week.

The Norben Gruta Command of the New People's Army has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Malacañang, meanwhile, said the attack shows the insincerity of communist rebels in talking peace with the government. - Pia Gutierrez, ABS-CBN News
