MANILA -- The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) on Tuesday filed two criminal complaints against a businesswoman for alleged failure to pay P13.48 million in taxes.
The BIR sued Mariequel Rotallas, who owns construction and engineering firm Wytex Trade and Consultancy. Rotallas is based in Iligan City and Misamis Oriental province, the agency said.
Rotallas failed to pay income, value-added and expanded withholding taxes for 2011 and 2012, said BIR Assistant Commissioner James Roldan.
If proven guilty of violating the National Internal Revenue Code, Rotallas could be jailed for up 10 to years and fined at least P10,000.
