CEBU CITY - A suspected hitman of self-confessed drug lord Franz Sabalones was nabbed Sunday, a few days after the arrest of another one of his alleged cohorts.
Police identified the suspect as Nelve Sayaboc, who was arrested in Barangay Pahina Central in this city. He has a standing warrant for murder dating back to 2009.
During the operation, authorities were able to recover and confiscate an air gun and a camouflage uniform from the suspect, according to Supt. Ryan Devaras of the Cebu City police.
Devaras confirmed that Sayaboc is a high-value target and has links with Sabalones. He said that Sayaboc is the primary suspect in the slay of a certain "Okoy" who was also tagged in the illegal drug trade.
Sayaboc, for his part, said he worked for Sabalones but refuted claims of him being a hitman. He also admitted that he was once a drug user but not a pusher.
He added that he already severed ties with the Sabalones Group following the surrender of the alleged drug lord to the police last year.
Last October 19, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Central Visayas (CIDG-7) arrested a certain Dennis Lapa who is also linked to Sabalones.
