DAVAO CITY - Four days after the earthquake in Tulunan, Cotabato, strong aftershocks continued to rock various parts of Mindanao, according to the state seismology agency on Sunday.

Two strong aftershocks were felt just 9 minutes apart in the Davao region, while another strong tremor struck Cotabato.

Phivolcs said a magnitude 4.8 aftershock struck 7 kilometers southwest of the town of Sulop in Davao del Sur at 7:50 p.m.

This was felt at Intensity IV in the town of Malungon in Sarangani province.

Intensity IV, according to Phivolcs, is moderately strong, with the vibration similar to the passing of a heavy truck.

Nine minutes later, a magnitude 4.9 earthquake hit 3 kilometers southeast of Kiblawan town in Davao del Sur.

Intensity IV was felt in Kidapawan City.

The Davao aftershocks followed the magnitude 4.8 aftershock that struck the town of Tulunan, Cotabato Sunday afternoon following last Wednesday's deadly earthquake, according to Phivolcs.

The tremor struck at 4:55 p.m. approximately 25 kilometers southeast of Tulunan town, with a depth of 1 kilometer, Phivolcs said.

The quake was felt as Intensity V in Koronadal City.

This is classified by Phivolcs as strong and is characterized by strong shaking and rocking felt throughout buildings.

The tremors follow last Wednesday's magnitude 6.3 quake, which killed 7 and left more than 60 injured.

Hundreds of aftershocks, with some as strong as magnitude 5.3 and 5.2, have followed Wednesday's quake.
