MANILA -- Typhoon Perla has further intensified as it made its way out of the Philippine area of responsibility, the state weather bureau said Sunday.

In its 5 a.m. advisory, PAGASA said Perla was last seen 635 km east northeast of Basco, Batanes, moving north northeast at 15 kph and packing maximum sustained winds of 140 kph with gusts of up to 170 kph.

The typhoon, which has no direct effect over the country, is expected to leave PAR on Sunday night or Monday morning, PAGASA said.

Batanes, Ilocos Norte, Apayao, and Cagayan will experience light rains brought by the northeasterly surface windflow, it added.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience isolated rains due to localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA also said it was monitoring 2 weather disturbances: a shallow low pressure area east of Central Luzon, which may enter the country on Monday or Tuesday; and Tropical Storm Bualoi, which was unlikely to enter PAR.
