DAVAO CITY - Former Special Assistant to the President Bong Go on Friday said he will still serve President Rodrigo Duterte in a private capacity.
"Tinutulungan ko po ang pangulo in my own personal and private life capacity. Wala naman pong sahod iyan," he said on the sidelines during the inauguration of a shopping mall in Davao City.
"Sabi ko, SAP pa rin ako, special assistant to the people," he added.
Go will have to leave Duterte’s side for the meantime as he will be busy in his campaign for his senatorial bid.
He filed his certificate of candidacy for senator for the 2019 midterm elections on Monday.
He was accompanied by the President at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) office in Intramuros, Manila.
Duterte, Go said, has not yet made a decision on who will replace him.
Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo earlier said that lawyer Charmalou Aldevera, legal counsel of Duterte’s friend Apollo Quiboloy, is being considered for the post. - with a report from Claire Cornelio, ABS-CBN News
