Zhydee Bitago Cabañelez sustained gunshot wounds after she was shot inside her classroom in Dalit Elementary School on Tuesday, Oct. 15.
Her husband Ramil, a fellow teacher of the same school, survived the attack. Four people onboard 2 motorcycles were believed to be behind the incident.
A stress debriefing was provided to the pupils who witnessed the attack. Village leaders had also beefed up the security around the school.
Valencia police chief Surki Sereñas earlier claimed that members of the New People's Army (NPA) could be responsible for the shooting.
"Nagpakilala na namaril na taga-bundok. We are narrowing down our investigation on the involvement of rebels in the area. Hopefully, we will be able to narrow down kung sino talaga ang mga responsable," he said.
