MANILA (UPDATE) -- A magnitude 5.2 earthquake struck off Davao Occidental early Thursday, the second to hit Mindanao region in as many days, Phivolcs said.
It was not immediately clear if the Davao Occidental earthquake was related to the 6.3-magnitude temblor in North Cotabato late Wednesday, Phivolcs said.
The earthquake on Thursday may spawn aftershocks but damage is unlikely, Phivolcs said. It struck at 9:28 a.m., 144 kilometers southeast of Jose Abad Santos town. It was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 61 kilometers.
At least 4 people were killed and 60 others were injured across Mindanao due to the Wednesday earthquake. The magnitude of the earthquake on Thursday was downgraded from 5.3 in the initial report.
