MANILA—State weather bureau PAGASA said early Wednesday it was monitoring a new low-pressure area (LPA) brewing east of the country.
The weather disturbance was last spotted 1,355 kilometers east of Baler, Aurora, weather specialist Loriedin Dela Cruz said.
The LPA may develop into a tropical cyclone in the next 24 hours, she added.
The northeasterly surface winds will bring cloudy skies with light rains over Batanes and Babuyan Group of Islands.
Mindanao and Eastern Visayas will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorm due to the intertropical convergence zone.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.
