MANILA- Accompanied by her father, former senator Jinggoy Estrada, San Juan Vice Mayor Janella Ejercito filed her bid as mayor for the 2019 midterm elections on Tuesday.
Outgoing Mayor Guia Gomez already gave her support to Janella.
If Janella wins, she will be the fifth in the Ejercito clan to land the top local executive position in San Juan for almost five decades.
"We will just let the people of San Juan decide,” her father Jinggoy said.
Janella, who belongs to the Partido ng Masang Pilipino (PMP) is running alongside Boy Celles, who is seeking the vice mayor post.
At 28 years old, Janella said she wants to continue her projects for the youth.
“Hindi naman nakabase sa edad ang paglilingkod sa kapwa. Dapat tapat ka sa serbisyo," she said.
(Public service is not based on age. You should be honest in service.)
"Sa loob ng limang taon nakikita ng kababayan ang mga hatid kong tulong sa kanila. Gusto ng bayan na mga Estrada ang naglilingkod sa kanila,” she added.
(For the past five years, the people saw the service I brought to them. The people want the Estradas to be of service to them.)
Janella will face ex-vice mayor Francis Zamora for the mayoral post.
Zamora, who had a close fight with Mayor Guia Gomez during the 2016 elections, is set to file his certificate of candidacy on Wednesday.
