MANILA - Cebu Archbishop Emeritus Ricardo Cardinal Vidal is now in stable condition after he was hospitalized last week, a spokesperson said Monday.
Cebu Archdiocese spokesperson Msgr. Joseph Tan told ABS-CBN News that Vidal was diagnosed with complications of pneumonia.
Vidal is still in the ICU but is now responsive. Tan asked the public for prayers for the 86-year-old's fast recovery.
Vidal's personal doctor Rene Bullecer earlier confirmed that the prelate was admitted to the intensive care unit of the Perpetual Succor Hospital in Cebu City on Friday afternoon after suffering cardiac arrest.
In 2014, Vidal had been in and out of the hospital because of pneumonia. He was also rushed to the hospital in May after vomiting due to pneumonia.
