Controversial Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Oscar Albayalde has left his post. Here are the big stories making the headlines on ANC today:

Relinquishing his post
Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Oscar Albayalde has stepped down from his position in the wake of accusations of his involvement in “ninja cops” or police officers recycling illegal drugs. Interior Secretary Eduardo Año said Albayalde offered to relinquish his post and President Rodrigo Duterte accepted. But Sen. Bong Go said Duterte asked Albayalde to take his terminal leave. Senators said Albayalde is not off the hook after the upper House held hearings on the “ninja cops” controversy. A committee report on the hearings is expected this week.

En banc suspense
The Supreme Court will hold its regular weekly en banc session today. A possible topic is the results of its deliberation on the poll protest filed by Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. against Vice President Leni Robredo. For the past few weeks, the High Court was expected to issue a ruling on the case. But the delay has added fuel to various speculations. Robredo’s lawyers called on the Supreme Court to adhere to its on rules on the case. ANC will be ready to break significant developments in this story.

Transport challenge
At least 2 members of the House of Representatives want officials to take public transportation regularly to experience the travails of the Metro Manila commuter. Presidential spokesperson Salvador Panelo tried it once and dispelled talk there was a transport crisis. Transportation Secretary Art Tugade earlier said something similar, adding that he takes public transportation from time to time. Sen. Dick Gordon dismissed the suggestion saying he didn't want to be a laughing stock like Panelo.

Sporting heroes
Two new Filipino sport stars, gymnast Carlos Yulo and boxer Nesthy Petecio, are set to arrive in the country after winning gold in their respective sports events. They are also scheduled to attend a press conference today.

Football star
David Beckham was recently in town—albeit for less than a day. The former football superstar talked to ANCX about his insecurities, the changes in his style and the importance of getting children into sports.
